Following his improve to a collection common in Season 4, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel co-star Luke Kirby‘s display screen time took successful within the Amazon comedy’s fifth and last season because the actor settled again into recurring visitor star mode. All advised, Kirby’s Lenny Bruce appeared in simply two of Season 5’s 9 episodes (together with the collection finale, which dropped Friday; learn our recap right here).
“We’ve all the time used Lenny Bruce judiciously,” EP Daniel Palladino explains to TVLine within the above video. “It’s all the time about what the story dictates. We needed him to come back in only for these considered moments the place it meant one thing to Midge and it meant one thing to Lenny.
“We have been actually enthusiastic about what we obtained to do with him” within the last season, Palladino provides. “It was the fruits of every thing we had in thoughts because the very starting.”
Kirby’s diminished presence didn’t go unnoticed by co-star Rachel Brosnahan. “I missed Luke,” Midge’s portrayer admits. “I like and have liked because the first season working with Luke. He’s one of many solely individuals who is allowed to come back on the present and alter the tempo of it. [He just brings] a unique shade to this present and it’s a lot enjoyable to play.
“I do assume,” Brosnahan provides, “that within the restricted time he was there this season he makes an ideal impression and leaves a big mark. And he does justice to the Lenny storyline.”
