The best way that the toons work together with the true individuals is unbelievable for a film from 1988. They managed to nail the eyelines between the toons and people (one thing The Sound of Music actually tousled on), and issues like Roger grabbing on to Valiant’s coat, breaking dishes over his head, spitting actual water out of his mouth and so on are so nicely finished.
I seemed up a behind the scenes video after watching and was amazed how they constructed little robots for issues just like the child holding the cigar, the dish breaking bit and so on after which drew the cartoons over it in submit.
Probably the most spectacular factor was the “bumping the lamp” scene, the place Valiant bumps his head on a lamp for the SOLE PURPOSE of creating the artists should do difficult lighting on roger for like a complete minute of footage, as a light-weight bounced forwards and backwards via the room, doing this sort of lighting and shadow and holding it per the dwell actors is an unbelievable achievement for 1988 and even now.
