On Friday (March 22), DJ Akademiks posted on his Instagram web page a screenshot of YNW Melly’s Instagram Story put up the place he referred to as out Kendrick Lamar for dissing him on Future and Metro Boomin’s We Do not Belief You monitor “Like That.” Within the screenshot, which you’ll be able to view under, Melly cites a really early posting of Genius’ lyrics to “Like That,” which incorrectly mentions Melly Mell not rap legend Melle Mel, whom Ok-Dot was referring to.

Why Did Kendrick Lamar Dissed Melle Mel on “Like That”?

Kendrick Lamar delivered a blistering verse on “Like That” the place he spits lyrical photographs at Drake, J. Cole and Melle Mel.

On the tune, the Compton rhymer raps, “I crash out, like, ‘F**ok rap,” diss Melle Mel if I needed to/Bought 2TEEZ with me, I am snatchin’ chains and burnin’ tattoos, it is up.”

That verse was in response to Melle Mel for his March 2023 interview with The Artwork of Dialogue on YouTube. Mel provided his opinion on Billboard and Vibe‘s 50 Best Rappers of All-Time record and questioned Kendrick’s No. 2 rating on the record.

“Even Kendrick Lamar being No. 2. I do not know,” Mel stated. “Clearly, he made some good songs. However these songs do not translate into the road a part of hip-hop. That is one other stage of hip-hop.”

“I do not know what information that he made like that,” he continued. “I would know one or two of them. However I do not assume you hear Kendrick within the membership like that. It is perhaps a report that is his report that I do not know. It do not translate into him being the No. 2 rapper of all-time. How does that occur? It should not. As a result of he is pretty a brand new rapper.”

“When Kendrick Lamar does these songs, no person needs to rap like Kendrick Lamar. No one needs to rap like Eminem,” Mel added.

Clearly, Kendrick did not like Mel’s opinion and thus his lyrical shot at him on “Like That.”
