Anchorage Adds Etherlink Custody, Opening Institutional Access to $9M Tokenized Uranium

Key Takeaways:

  • Anchorage Digital now has institutional custody support for Etherlink and seven assets.
  • Included in this offering is xU3O8, a token representing real-world uranium.
  • Clients’ assets can be held in segregated accounts at Anchorage Digital Bank.

Anchorage Digital has expanded its institutional custody platform to Etherlink, adding another route for funds and asset managers to hold tokenized real-world assets. The integration includes xU3O8, a token representing physical uranium, alongside stablecoins and other assets issued or supported on the Tezos layer-2 network.

Anchorage Digital now supports @Tezos’ Etherlink, giving institutions custody of assets like xU3O8, tokenized physical uranium, at a federally chartered bank.

“Institutions are not short on interest in tokenized real-world assets. They are short on places to hold them,” says…

Anchorage Adds Seven Etherlink Assets

Institutional clients can now custody seven Etherlink-based assets through Anchorage Digital. The supported assets are xU3O8, wrapped XTZ (WXTZ), liquid staking token stXTZ, USDT, USDC, USDSM and wrapped Ether (WETH).

The integration connects Etherlink assets to Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., which Anchorage describes as a federally chartered bank. Clients can use segregated custody accounts with policy-based controls while keeping the operational processes used for their existing Anchorage holdings.

Etherlink is an Ethereum Virtual Machine compatible TEZ layer 2 network. It aims to help build Ethereum-compatible apps while settling on Tezos. On the other hand, for the tokenized asset issuers, it enables them to use their familiar EVM development tools on the Tezos settlement layer.

This delivery extension, then, contains beyond a particular cryptocurrency. Transfers tokenized commodities, stablecoins, staking assets and wrapped assets into one institutional custody system.

Tokenized Uranium Gets Institutional Custody

The unit of the integration is xU3O8, which is physical uranium onchain. The token provides crypto market participants with an option to get exposure to the uranium but not to commodity itself.

Typically, uranium markets require specialist intermediaries, more settlement time and relatively high investing barriers, Anchorage said. This tokenization can restructure that transfer and settlement, enabling transactions to happen on blockchain infrastructure.

According to recent market data, xU3O8’s market capitalization is just over $9 million. The number can fluctuate in line with the move of the token and must not be considered as a fixed valuation.

RWA Market Moves Beyond Stablecoins

The inclusion of xU3O8 further demonstrates the movement of real-world assets from the more traditional to tokenized space. Stablecoins and tokenized Treasuries continue to be significant stakeholders in the RWA space, while commodity pools and other types of financial exposures are increasingly represented through blockchain platforms.

For institutional demand, the key limiting factor isn’t tokenized RWAs, says Anchorage CEO Nathan McCauley. But he noted, in the latest draft, a lack of custody offerings to institutional risk appetite.

This is a distinction that is key to the crypto market. Tokenization of an asset is just one herculean component of infrastructure. Institutions should also ensure their custody, control, settlement procedures and operating systems meet compliance and risk requirements.

Etherlink Expands Its Institutional Footprint

Enhanced support for USDT, USDC and USDSM, providing US institutions with three dollar-based stablecoins via custody on Etherlink. WXTZ, stXTZ and WETH add exposure to assets linked to the broader Tezos and Ethereum ecosystems.

Anchorage is far from the first institutional custodian to back uranium exposure on Etherlinks. According to industry reports, Hex Trust has updated Etherlink and added support for Ethereum xU3O8 (XUP) custody in 2025.

With the integration, Anchorage brings another institutional custody service to the Etherlink network of assets. RWAs suggest a market increasingly targeting the infrastructure necessary to hold onchain assets at scale; combined with tokenized commodities, this means crypto investors and asset managers are increasingly turning to and regulating custody points.
