Shadow Residence Affairs Minister James Paterson has criticised the Albanese authorities’s “stunning failure” on border safety and nationwide safety after the “very disturbing” information that greater than 40 asylum seekers had been in a position to attain mainland Australia.
A single boat carrying 43 asylum seekers from Pakistan, Bangladesh and India arrived in Western Australia on Friday.
“It is rather disturbing; it shouldn’t be the case that anybody can get to the Australian mainland with out being detected, not to mention two,” Mr Paterson informed Sky Information Australia.
“(It) is a stunning failure of maritime surveillance, it’s a stunning failure of border safety, it’s a stunning failure of nationwide safety, and it’s unsurprising that it has occurred on this authorities’s watch as a result of they’ve been chipping away on the profitable pillars of Operation Sovereign Borders.
“The Prime Minister mentioned this week that’s irrelevant as a result of it’s a historic matter – really, it’s crucial.”
