The sexual assault trial of former Central Coast Mariners participant Angel Torres has heard he met his alleged sufferer at a Terrigal nightclub and used Instagram to point out her he was an expert soccer participant.

Mr Torres, 24, has pleaded not responsible to aggravated sexual activity with out consent, sexual activity with out consent, two counts of frequent assault, and intimidation.

In his opening remarks in Gosford District Courtroom, Crown prosecutor Andrew Lynch advised the jury Mr Torres, a Colombian nationwide, made eye contact with a 21-year-old girl from throughout the dance ground in March 2024 and signalled for her to hitch him, utilizing Google Translator to speak.
The courtroom heard the girl willingly went house with Mr Torres however despatched a textual content message to a buddy as soon as there saying she was undecided about her resolution as she began to sober up, saying she felt “bizarre vibes”.
The Crown advised the courtroom a sexual encounter started, throughout which Mr Torres eliminated the girl’s belt and wrapped it round her neck and that he laughed at her as she regarded for her pants when she tried to depart.

It’s the Crown’s case that Mr Torres adopted the girl as she ran down the road telling her “you may wreck my profession”, to which she replied “simply let me go, I will not say something”.
Mr Torres’ defence barrister William Brewer advised the courtroom the sexual encounter between the pair was consensual and that the accused is an individual of fine character.
The trial has commenced a 12 months to the day because the alleged offence befell.

Soccer Australia quickly suspended Mr Torres after he was charged in April 2024.
His contract with the Central Coast Mariners expired in June 2024 and was not renewed.
