Institute of Public Affairs’ Dr Sherry Sufi says he thinks it’s an “applicable plan of action” for parliament to be suspended for 14 days to permit members to mirror on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
“I believe a few of that critique … can be grounded within the presumption that voting on laws in parliament is all that members of parliament do,” he advised Sky Information Australia.
“That’s not the case, there’s a complete host of different issues that members of parliament do reminiscent of attending to electoral duties, growing coverage.
“None of that’s going to be affected, they’ll nonetheless be capable of proceed to work.”
