Josh Brolin lately reacted to the truth that Denis Villeneuve did not land a Greatest Director Oscar nomination for his work on Dune: Half 2.
Brolin performs Gurney Halleck within the franchise, and he beforehand mentioned that he’d stop appearing if Villeneuve wasn’t nominated. He mentioned on the time:
“If he doesn’t get nominated this 12 months, I’ll stop appearing. It was a greater film than the primary one. Once I watched it, it felt like my mind was damaged open.
“It’s masterful, and Denis is one in every of our grasp filmmakers. If the Academy Awards have any that means in any respect, they’ll acknowledge him.”
Brlon is now doubling down on these feedback, sahring on Instagram: “Simply need to say congratulations on the ‘Dune’ greatest image nomination, to Greig Fraser on cinematography, for greatest visible results, for Patrice [Vermett] on manufacturing design and for sound.”
He then added: “Apparently, I’m going to stop appearing as a result of Denis Villeneuve didn’t get nominated. That is simply how this factor works. It is mindless to me.
“That’s okay. [Editor] Joe Walker and Denis, you deserve it. It’s a tremendous movie. It was even higher than the primary one. The individuals who have gotten accolades absolutely deserve it. Comfortable to be part of it. Congrats everybody.”
Dune 2 was nominated for a number of Oscars, together with Greatest Image, Greatest Director, Greatest Cinematography, Manufacturing Design, Greatest Sound, and Greatest Visible Results.
However it’s ridiculous that Villeneuve wasn’t nominated for Greatest Director. The filmmaker beforehand reacted to Brolin’s feedback about qutting appearing, saying:
“That provides me an incredible quantity of accountability, placing all of that on my shoulders. Thanks Josh, that’s embarrassing. I imply if Josh does resolve to stop appearing, it is going to be my accountability to battle him on it.”
I’m fairly positive that Brolin isn’t actually going to stop appearing, so I don’t suppose followers of his shoud fear.
