A person armed with a pistol entered the Bankmed in Nabatiyeh, Lebanon, and held the workers hostage.
The gunman was recognized as 55-year-old Yahya Ali Badr El-Din. He owns a grocery store in Nabatiyeh.
He’s demanding the reported $150,000 he has locked in his checking account and threatened to kill himself if he didn’t get it.
That is considered one of a sequence of incidents happening this previous month the place Lebanese are storming banks to pressure them into withdrawing their deposits trapped by unofficial capital controls since 2019.
Yesterday, MP Cynthia Zarazir went into Byblos Financial institution in Antelias demanding her cash.
