A minimum of 27 folks have died when a ship capsized on the Niger River in central Nigeria, the native emergency administration company says.
The ultimate loss of life toll from the accident late on Thursday could be identified as soon as a search and rescue operation ended, Kogi State Emergency Administration Company spokeswoman Sandra Musa stated.
“To date, 27 our bodies have been recovered, however (the) rescue operation remains to be ongoing,” Musa instructed Reuters.
Greater than 100 folks, principally ladies, have been nonetheless lacking on Friday.
The boat was carrying principally merchants from Missa neighborhood in central Kogi state heading to a weekly meals market in neighbouring Niger state, a Nationwide Inland Waterways Authority consultant stated.
