Boy George’s mum Dinah O’Dowd has died, aged 84.
The Tradition Membership singer’s representatives confirmed the unhappy information, revealing that he’s “devastated” by the loss.
She died on Monday surrounded by her household. They’ve requested for privateness right now, The Solar stories.
In an announcement on Tradition Membership’s Instagram, supervisor Paul Kemsley wrote: “I’m very unhappy to substantiate the information of the passing of Boy George’s beloved mom Dinah.
“George is devastated as are the household. They had been all by her bedside when she handed and George was holding her hand.
“He needs me to increase his deep gratitude to the large outpouring of affection and assist he’s receiving, and whereas he can’t reply, he feels grateful and the messages assist,” he mentioned.
“George and his household would politely now request some privateness to have the ability to grieve and are available to phrases with their heartbreaking loss.”
Tributes have now poured in for Ms O’Dowd, with Boy George’s good friend DJ Fats Tony remembering her as “an unimaginable, lovely, sturdy girl”.
He wrote on Instagram: “God bless you, you superb girl Dinah,
“My coronary heart goes out to @boygeorgeofficial and your complete O’Dowd household. What an unimaginable, lovely, sturdy girl. We are going to miss you x.”
In April 2020, the Karma Chameleon singer revealed his mum had undergone surgical procedure for “coronary heart and lung issues”.
She returned residence after two days in hospital.
The pop star had a detailed relationship together with his mum, who raised him alone after his dad walked out on the household following a tough marriage.
Chatting with Piers Morgan’s Life Tales in 2017, the singer recalled: “My dad was fairly an excessive man.
“[He] might lose his mood and chuck your complete Sunday dinner over and everyone went hungry.
“It wasn’t till I received to about 15 or 16 that I realised how sturdy my mum was.”
