Damaged Bells, the on-again/off-again collaboration between The Shins’ James Mercer and producer Brian Burton (aka Hazard Mouse), is again with its first new single in three years. “We’re Not in Orbit But…” precedes Damaged Bells’ upcoming album Into the Blue, which is due from AWAL on a date to be introduced.
A real hybrid of Mercer and Burton’s particular person kinds, “We’re Not in Orbit But…” is a moody, mid-tempo track with a retro really feel, flecked by acoustic guitar, organ and synths. It’s Damaged Bells’ first launch because the 2019 one-off single “Good Luck.”
