Attendees of the 2024 Motion Digital Music Competition at Detroit’s Hart Plaza have evacuated the grounds because of extreme climate.
Motion’s organizers issued an alert through social media at 6:43pm on Sunday, the competition’s second day.
“Consideration: Extreme climate is heading to Hart Plaza,” the alert reads. “All attendees should evacuate instantly. Please head to the closest exit level.”
Ticket-holders swiftly evacuated Hart Plaza as a storm rolled in, an onsite EDM.com workers member overlaying Motion confirmed. Rain and thunder are at the moment battering the competition’s grounds in addition to 17 mile-per-hour wind gusts, per AccuWeather.
Organizers mentioned they’re actively monitoring the climate and can present updates promptly. Tonight’s scheduled headliners have been Richie Hawtin, James Blake and a hotly anticipated collaborative DJ set between Idris Elba and legendary Detroit techno producer Kevin Saunderson, amongst others.
