EcoFlow’s new Energy Hat have to be the dorkiest piece of headgear I’ve ever heard of — and I feel I find it irresistible? It’s a wide-brimmed floppy-ish solar hat stuffed with photo voltaic cells that you may cost your cellphone with. EcoFlow says it may cost a 4,000mAh smartphone to capability “in as quick as 3–4 hours.” Sounds excellent for casually scrolling feeds at a campsite or surviving in a sun-blasted, Mad Maxian desert wasteland.
In response to EcoFlow’s specs, the $129 Energy Hat’s photo voltaic cells are made out of a skinny, versatile materials known as passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) monocrystalline silicon. It presents roughly 12-watt charging by way of the USB-A and USB-C connectors on the underside of the brim. The entire thing weighs 370 grams.
Oh, and the Energy Hat is IP65 rated, which means it’s dust-proof and might stand up to water jets from any path (though I query whether or not that holds true for those who’re pointing an excellent soaker on the USB ports).
