As candy as a love tune! Religion Hill and Tim McGraw have one of many strongest relationships within the music business — and their bond simply retains getting higher.
The nation couple first met at a Nashville gig in late 1994, once they have been every seeing different folks. On the time, the “Simply to See You Smile” singer was courting Kristine Donahue, and Hill had simply finalized her divorce from Daniel Hill. Two years later, Religion joined McGraw on the Spontaneous Combustion tour and sparks started to fly.
After a whirlwind romance, the “Don’t Take the Woman” crooner wed his nation cutie in October 1996 in his Louisiana hometown. Practically 20 years later, McGraw regarded again on the romantic second he proposed to his soulmate on tour.
“We have been within the dressing room, right here, June 26, 1996, and it was raining and stuff and we’d been on tour for some time collectively, and I joked round along with her about getting married. And so I checked out her, grabbed her by the hand, and dropped ahead [on my knees] onstage,” he recalled in a nostalgic video in October 2015. “She mentioned, ‘We’re at a rustic music competition in a trailer home, and also you’re asking me to marry you?’ And I mentioned, ‘Yeah.’ So I went onstage … Once I got here again offstage, [I saw] a Sharpie with lipstick kisses throughout it, saying, ‘Sure! I’m gonna be your spouse.’”
The couple introduced their love all throughout the nation — and later, around the globe — on their Soul2Soul tour. Between gigs, awards exhibits and recording hits, the pair welcomed three daughters: Grace in 1997, Maggie in 1998 and Aubrey in 2001.
Even by their most tough moments, McGraw and the “Mississippi Woman” songstress have stood strongly by one another’s aspect. When Religion misplaced her father, Ted Perry, in February 2019, her husband shared a loving tribute on social media in his honor.
“He was the sweetest, kindest most mild man I’ve ever recognized,” McGraw wrote on the time. “No man in my life has ever made such an affect on me as to the way to be a human, a father and a good friend.”
