Police mentioned the victims — three females and two males of comparable ages — died on the scene.
Native councillor Michael Banasik mentioned it was a “horrible tragedy” for the tight-knit city of 400–500 individuals.
“It is devastating for Buxton and the final neighborhood, you already know, it is simply horrible,” he advised 9news.com.au.
“Buxton’s an important place, small, small city and yeah, it is a horrible tragedy, regardless of the place it is occurred.”
Banasik, who struggled to place the impression of the accident into phrases, mentioned what little was recognized in regards to the crash was sufficient to “make everyone sick within the abdomen”, including that the households concerned could be devastated.
A medical group was flown in by helicopter to deal with the victims, firefighters mentioned.
Police have launched an investigation into the crash.
