A lavish mansion that was as soon as the backdrop to the notorious marriage ceremony of disgraced politician Salim Mehajer has been the goal of a suspected firebombing.
The four-storey property on Francs Road in Lidcombe, in Sydney’s south-west, was allegedly firebombed at 9.30pm yesterday.
A neighbour known as the authorities after listening to the property’s fireplace alarm blaring, with Hearth and Rescue NSW speeding to the scene.
Firefighters have confirmed that the blaze is being handled as suspicious and the investigation is ongoing.
“The responding firefighters have recognized some areas of significant concern of how this hearth has ignited,” FRNSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry mentioned.
“All our firefighters are educated to establish burn patterns and fireplace behaviour, they’ve recognized areas that are not in line with an unintended fireplace.”
One resident mentioned they noticed a person attempting to kick the door to the property down whereas one other mentioned they noticed an individual wearing black operating from the scene.
The house, which is the place Mehajer celebrated his marriage ceremony to his now ex-wife by shutting down your complete road, was bought by the financial institution simply two months in the past for $3.85 million.
9News understands the brand new homeowners of the house have been planning to tone again the property and resell it.
In the meantime, the previous deputy mayor of Auburn is serving time behind bars for fraud and home violence offences.
He might be eligible for parole in six months time.
