With Halloween formally behind us, the vacation season is now in full swing — and so is Kelly Clarkson‘s every day Kellyoke section on The Kelly Clarkson Present.
The American Idol alum, who earlier this week sank her enamel into a canopy of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire,” swapped the spooky vibes for one thing a lot lighter and jazzier, delivering her distinctive tackle Rosemary Clooney’s 1954 monitor “Love—You Didn’t Do Proper by Me” on Friday (Nov. 3).
Her band Y’all — which included a pianist, drummer, cellist and bass guitarist this time round — adopted Clarkson’s vocals with ease as she hit the monitor’s hovering excessive notes and gave particular consideration throughout moments that put her gorgeous vibrato on show.
“Love you didn’t do proper by me/ I’m again on the shelf and I’m blaming myself nevertheless it’s you/ My one love affair didn’t get anyplace from the beginning/ To ship me a Joe who had winter and snow in his coronary heart wasn’t good/ Love You didn’t do proper by me/ As they are saying within the tune…you finished me incorrect,” she delicately sang on the refrain of the monitor.
The tune was written by Irving Berlin for the 1954 American musical movie White Christmas and was carried out by Clooney within the vacation film. The Christmas basic was directed by Michael Curtiz and starred Bing Crosby, who contributed the title tune to the soundtrack.
Clarkson’s newest Kellyoke serves as a warm-up for her subsequent gig as host and performer at NBC’s annual Christmas in Rockefeller Middle telecast. This system is slated to air on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and can stream on Peacock.
