Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony sees the band’s 2007 induction into the Rock & Roll Corridor of Fame as a missed alternative.
Throughout an look on The Hook Rocks podcast, Anthony lamented Van Halen’s incapacity to get alongside.
“Even when the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Corridor of Fame,” the bassist recalled. “Sammy [Hagar] and I had been the one two from the band that confirmed up, and we weren’t even within the band on the time.”
Eddie Van Halen (understandably) missed the ceremony as a result of he was in rehab, whereas David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen selected to not attend. Anthony described it as “fairly unhappy” that the members of Van Halen couldn’t put apart their private variations for the Corridor of Fame induction. “I turned to Sammy in the course of the [induction] present, I neglect who was on stage enjoying, and we had been sitting at our desk, and I am going, ‘Sammy, might you think about if all of us, if we had been all right here, and all people obtained alongside, and we obtained up there?’” Anthony recalled. “‘We might kick the ass out of this factor! It would be an induction ceremony that no person would ever neglect.’ Sadly sufficient, it wasn’t to be.”

Elsewhere within the interview, Anthony expressed his pleasure for the Better of All Worlds tour, scheduled to kick off July 13 in Palm Seashore, Florida. The trek will see Anthony becoming a member of forces with Hagar, Joe Satriani and Jason Bonham to ship units stuffed with Van Halen classics.

“Sammy and I mentioned, let’s simply let’s exit and play the music,” the bassist defined. “And we’ll go up there and we’ll honor Eddie. And I do know Joe goes to do his finest. He is not attempting to step into Ed’s sneakers or no matter. He is Joe Satriani. However he loves the music. And he needs to go on the market and actually do attempt to do it justice in his personal method and to honor Eddie additionally.”
