The Brazilian Soccer Affiliation (CBF) confirmed Lucas Paqueta will stay in Brazil’s Copa America squad regardless of being charged over alleged breaches of betting guidelines by the English Soccer Affiliation (FA).
Final August, it was reported the FA had opened an investigation into suspicious betting exercise surrounding Paqueta, who stated he was cooperating with the FA’s probe in March.
The West Ham midfielder is accused of deliberately searching for to obtain a card in 4 totally different Premier League fixtures, three within the 2022-23 season and one on the opening matchday of 2023-24, with the costs introduced towards him final Thursday.

“Given the info reported by the English Federation, the CBF, supported by the joint opinion from the Authorized and Governance and Compliance Directorates and the Integrity Unit, has determined to take care of the participant’s call-up,” the CBF stated in an announcement signed by president Ednaldo Rodrigues.
“Based mostly on the knowledge supplied by the FA, it’s categorically concluded that the participant, Lucas Paqueta, regardless of the behaviour for which he was accused authorising preventive elimination [from the squad] … has not been penalised so far by the prosecuting physique authorised to sanction him.
