Liberal MP Zoe McKenzie says the folks of Israel felt “very let down” by Australia voting for a Gaza ceasefire.
Ms McKenzie joined Sky Information Australia and recounted her experiences in travelling to Tel Aviv in addition to places below Palestinian authority similar to Ramallah.
“There had been an earlier assertion within the day with Canada and New Zealand that had recognised the devastation attributable to Hamas and the necessity to eradicate the terrorist risk,” she mentioned.
“However the UN vote itself didn’t have any of these caveats in it.
“So clearly there was some disappointment in that, … however it could have been higher had we really been a lot clearer in relation to that UN vote and both abstained, or insured that the decision had the notification about Hamas and it had finished, and the necessity to eradicate Hamas as a political and army power in Gaza.”
