Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford introduced that Phil Collins’ son Nic will play drums on his 2023 Mike + the Mechanics tour dates.
Nic, 21, took his father’s place for Genesis’ last reunion tour after well being points left Phil Collins unable to play. As an alternative, he sang lead vocals from a seat and retired after their final efficiency in March.

Forward of Genesis’ The Final Domino? tour, Rutherford praised Nic’s contribution to rehearsals, saying he “type of was means forward of us” and so helped velocity up the method. “However the factor with Nic [is] he can sound like Phil. So if you’re doing a few of these previous songs, it’s fascinating — they return to how they had been after we did them on the albums, which was simply fairly enjoyable for us. … With Nic there versus Phil, it didn’t really feel a lot completely different from the perspective of taking part in.”
