Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has introduced a brand new devoted facility within the south-east of Brisbane to accommodate alleged juvenile offenders on remand.
The brand new centre comes after the Queensland authorities had been underneath heavy hearth for accommodating kids as younger as ten in police watch homes.
Ms Palaszczuk revealed that the brand new youth remand centre would have 50 beds.
“I’m very happy to announce that this devoted remand facility will make it possible for younger individuals have a spot to go which isn’t in long-term watch homes,” she stated.
“I’ve listened to the neighborhood and the Human Rights Commissioner and we consider that that is the precise step.”
