Rae Sremmurd member Slim Jxmmi was arrested at Los Angeles Worldwide Airport on Tuesday (Aug. 9) when border brokers discovered a warrant for his arrest in Georgia, in response to TMZ, who first reported the information.
The rapper, whose actual title is Aaquil Iben Shamon Brown, had a warrant stemming from a previous arrest involving possession of marijuana with intent to promote, although he has since entered a plea in Cobb County, Georgia, and obtained 5 years’ probation.
“Almost two years in the past, Aaquil entered a plea to a marijuana offense in Cobb County, Georgia. He was positioned on probation,” the star’s lawyer Steve Sadow stated in a press assertion. “In early June 2022, somebody filed an untruthful grievance with the Cobb County Police Division, which led to an arrest warrant being issued. Aaquil was not arrested on that warrant. As a substitute, a Cobb County Justice of the Peace Choose held a listening to on July 20, 2022 and dismissed the warrant.”
“Sadly, the Cobb County Probation Workplace was not made conscious that the arrest warrant was dismissed and thus didn’t withdraw its probation violation warrant,” the assertion continued. “When Aaquil got here again from Canada into LA airport, he was arrested on the probation violation warrant. We count on that warrant to be withdrawn within the subsequent day or so, after which Aaquil might be launched.”
The arrest comes lower than a 12 months after Miami prosecutors dropped misdemeanor battery expenses in opposition to Slim Jxmmi over a January incident wherein he allegedly pulled his girlfriend’s hair and threw her cellphone off a balcony.
