The Reporting Assaults from Nations Chosen for Oversight and Monitoring Internet Assaults and Ransomware from Enemies Act (often known as the RANSOMWARE Act) will make it simpler for the US to answer ransomware assaults from overseas adversaries based on its writer, Republican Florida Consultant Gus Bilirakis.
The proposed laws would amend the 2006 US Protected Internet Act by mandating reporting of cross-border complaints referring to ransomware and different assaults.
The RANSOMWARE Act focuses on Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran, particularly figuring out these international locations when referring to alleged perpetrators of ransomware assaults. Beneath the legislation, the Federal Commerce Fee (FTC) would ship a report back to the Home Committee on Vitality and Commerce and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation each two years. The report would come with the variety of complaints involving ransomware, and a listing of those who the FTC had acted upon or not acted upon.
