This week’s retro trailer is for the 1991 movie Samurai Cop, an motion movie that has garnered a cult following for its mix of martial arts, over-the-top motion sequences, and unintentionally tacky comedic moments.
The movie was directed by Amir Shervan, and it stars Matt Hannon as Joe Marshall, also called the Samurai Cop, alongside Mark Frazer as his associate, Frank Washington. The story facilities on Marshall, an LAPD officer with a mastery of samurai swordsmanship, who’s tasked with taking down the vicious Katana gang, a Japanese organized crime syndicate terrorizing Los Angeles.
This film is hilariously ridiculous with its horrible dialogue, continuity errors, and unusual enhancing selections. The performances, significantly Hannon’s portrayal of the stoic but inept hero, have been each criticized and celebrated for his or her contribution to the movie’s attraction.
