After a collection of cryptic teasers, the Remedy have launched “Alone,” the lead single from their first new album since 2008, Songs of a Misplaced World. The LP will likely be launched Nov. 1 by means of Capitol Data.
“Alone” is one among a number of songs debuted in the course of the Robert Smith-led band’s 2022-23 tour, together with “Endsong,” “A Fragile Factor,” “One other Blissful Birthday,” “And Nothing Is Perpetually” and “I Can By no means Say Goodbye.” The complete monitor checklist has but to be introduced, though on Oct. 1, the latter two cuts will likely be launched in variations taped in France in 2022 on a 12-inch vinyl single.

“It’s the monitor that unlocked the report,” Smith says of “Alone.” “As quickly as we had that piece of music recorded, I knew it was the opening track, and I felt the entire album come into focus. I had been struggling to search out the appropriate opening line for the appropriate opening track for some time, working with the easy concept of ‘being alone,’ at all times behind my thoughts this nagging feeling that I already knew what the opening line must be. As quickly as we completed recording I remembered the poem ‘Dregs’ by the English poet Ernest Dowson, and that was the second after I knew the track—and the album—have been actual.”
Songs of a Misplaced World is the follow-up to 2008’s 4:13 Dream, which debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard 200.
