Zsela has been driving a novel wave for the previous few years, unspooling immaculately crafted, heart-on-sleeve R&B that drips with feeling. With the arrival of her long-awaited debut album, Massive For You, out now through Mexican Summer season, she’s doubling down on all the experimental allure that makes her music so magnetic. “On the coronary heart, it touches on the causal versus intentional dance we play between being ‘filled with you’ and ‘full for you’ — the complexity and magnitude of the house we take and refill for love,” Zsela says of the title. Floating between grandness and vulnerability all through its 10 tracks, Zsela notes that it was important for her to “keep open” throughout the album’s creation, digging for a deeper reality of what the songs wanted to be. With the assistance of producers Daniel Aged (Frank Ocean, Kelela) and Gabe Wax (The Warfare On Medication, Soccer Mommy), it’s clear that she discovered it.
