Dave Grohl’s 16-year-old daughter Violet kicked off a star-studded tribute to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins tonight (Sept. 27) on the Kia Discussion board in Los Angeles with a transferring rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” backed by guitarist Alain Johannes.
“That is the hometown shit tonight, so that you’ve gotta make it loud for Taylor,” Dave Grohl informed the viewers on the outset. “That dude might make you fuckin’ smile and chortle and dance and sing. It’s gonna be an extended fuckin’ night time.”
From there, Joan Jett stormed by means of “Cherry Bomb” and “Unhealthy Fame” backed by the surviving Foo Fighters and Travis Barker on drums, combating again tears as she spoke of her friendship with Hawkins.
