Transport and Infrastructure Minister Catherine King discusses why her division blocked from releasing to Sky Information a departmental submission recommending motion over Qatar Airways’ utility for added flights into Australia.
The Division of International Affairs warned the doc’s launch would “harm” Australia’s “worldwide relations” with the Qatar authorities.
“These are bilateral agreements between governments; they aren’t business preparations; they’re bilateral agreements between governments and that data is necessary that governments are capable of discuss with one another about these bilateral agreements,” Ms King informed Sky Information Australia.
“They’re bilateral agreements between governments, and we don’t typically launch that recommendation.
“We don’t launch recommendation between two governments, we don’t launch that, that’s the identical motive it wasn’t launched within the Senate.”
Ms King mentioned she “stands by the choice” to dam Qatar Airways’ utility to develop flights into Australia on July 10.
