Why is Ethereum moving to elliptic curves over hashes despite post quantum concerns?

I'm not a cryptographer so I wouldn't know and I'm not attempting to start out any FUD however I've heard that Elliptic Curve Cryptography will not be thought of a Quantum-Secure or Publish Quantum Cryptographic algorithm. Seems to be like Ethereum might be changing patricia merkle timber with verkle timber that are based mostly on elliptic curves[1].

I'd wish to assume the Ethereum builders know what they're doing and have Ethereum's greatest curiosity however then that will require trusting individuals in an area that's suppose to be trustless.
