This guide will go over where to find each beast that is part of the Master’s Bestiary in Final Fantasy XIV, as part of the Limited Job Beastmaster.
Capturing Beasts
The Master’s Bestiary is your list of collected beasts, obtained by playing Beastmaster. Beastmaster can make use of its Capture ability to apply the “Interest Captured” effect, which gives you a chance to capture the monster once it’s defeated. Capture chance varies based on beast, along with your level and how low their health is when you use Capture.
To capture a beast, you have to be at least the same level as them (if not higher.) With the current level cap at 50, this means you cannot capture monsters from any of the expansions.
While the Master’s Bestiary shows an area you can find monsters in, it does not show exact locations. It’s also possible to find these monsters in other locations, either as natural enemies or ones that spawn during FATEs.
In addition, a number of Beasts are found inside dungeons and other multiplayer battle content. While you can go in to this content with a set party, there are a few ways to speed up capturing them. To start with, you can use the Unrestricted Party option and bring a high level friend along to take out everything other than your capture target.
The more consistent option is the vendor that becomes available during the course of the Beastmaster quests. He sells gourds containing each non-overworld beast, bought using Remnants of Resilience obtained by completing runs of the Crucible.
