Co-op survival game Core Keeper is back with another free update, further expanding the experience for its players. The latest Core Keeper update is called Riders of the Underground and brings some highly desired additions to the game.
What’s in Core Keeper update Riders of the Underground?
The headline feature of Riders of the Underground is the addition of mounts for riding around – notably cattle that you can tame and then ride with saddles. There’s also a new cattle in Orex found in a new sub-biome in the game. All cattle can be ridden, named, and there is a new behavioral options for players to select including telling them to stay, roam, or follow the player like a pet.
The Moss sub-biome is a new addition and is part of the Forgotten Ruins. This biome includes new pets to befriend with unique abilities as you go further and further into the underground, as well as new enemies, and more. This region adds lush greenery to the stony ruins that make up the Forgotten Ruins.
The update also brings news weapons, armor, accessories, and the Hookshot – which comes in two varieties of the plain hookshot and the gilded hookshot. There are some new loot chests for bosses, as well as 4 new achievements to get. Minions are also no longer expiring and last indefinitely until you despawn them, and there’s an ability to spawn the maximum amount of minions at once.
Beyond these, there are a number of quality of life updates that should make continuing to play or revisiting Core Keeper more fun and a lot more comfortable than it has been in the past. Even 4 years after its initial release, and 2 years post 1.0 Core Keeper keeps getting better, even without its players needing to spend more money on it. Core Keeper Riders of the Underground is available on all systems – PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.
