As a young adult, he fought bitterly with EJ because he didn’t want to be part of DiMera Enterprises — he wanted to direct movies.
What happened to THAT Johnny? The guy on our screen who keeps making empty threats to disown EJ bears little, if any, resemblance to him.

Since Johnny is leaving Salem, I feel like this whole story was contrived just to give him a reason to go.
That’s even more annoying since it sounds like it was the production team’s choice to write him out. If Johnny had to go, it should have been with a more reasonable exit story.
Anyway, now that we’re nearing the end of Johnny’s time in Salem, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 9-21-26 say that he and EJ will have an epic showdown.

Better late than never, I suppose, but this conflict should have been the story, not just its climax.
In a way, it’s a relief. Johnny was upset when he learned that EJ might have dumped tainted drugs and caused people to become sick and die, including the near-catastrophic incident that Holly suffered.

That shows that the real Johnny — the one with a conscience who doesn’t want to do these horrible things — is in there somewhere, and he probably will come out during the argument.
Later in the week, though, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 9-21-26 say that Sydney encourages Johnny to stand his ground rather than backing down, which isn’t exactly a good sign.
Johnny has confronted EJ two or three times before, and EJ gets the upper hand every time by talking about how important it is that Johnny protect the family legacy.

Johnny may be more and more horrified by what his father is up to, but if he quickly caves to EJ’s manipulations, it doesn’t matter.

Johnny has said that Chanel and the kids are his family and legacy now, so when is he going to start acting like it?
Then again, if he and Chanel go elsewhere to get away from EJ, this latest argument could be what pushes Johnny over the edge.
Chanel keeps saying she won’t accept EJ in their lives, and she doesn’t want Johnny involved in shady business. If she issues a new ultimatum, that will be unpopular with fans—but it might be what gets Johnny to finally realize what he’s risking and make a different choice.
Of course, he and Chanel have had this fight before, and it hasn’t changed anything, but with the two set to leave Salem soon, this time has to be different. I think.
Meanwhile, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 9-21-26 say that Theo will confide in Abe, and I hope it’s about this.

I have mixed feelings about Theo’s resignation.
I love his strong moral stance, which is something Salem needs more of. Everyone else’s “no” gets turned into a “yes” by the end of the same episode!
But Theo actively investigating his cousin would have been a more interesting story. Of course, that might still happen now that he is talking to Abe about what’s on his mind.

It seems that Philip’s huge gamble was all for nothing.

I mean, he gets Gabi back, but that’s about it. Spoilers say he’s too late to save the house, and on top of that, Maggie is extremely displeased with him and Xander.
I’m sure she won’t be happy that Philip lied to her face about giving up gambling, and I can’t blame her for that or for worrying he’ll relapse.
I wonder if we’re going to get a bona fide gambling addiction story out of this.
So far, it seems like Philip’s gambling was just a vehicle to get the money he needed and get back with Gabi, but it could be the start of something more interesting — if it’s done right and doesn’t default to outdated stereotypes and tired clichés.
Meanwhile, the Dominic Marino mystery will heat up this week, and unfortunately, one fan theory that I hate appears to be true.

Does Marlena Have a Child With Stefano? Seriously?
I didn’t take that theory seriously because it sounded ridiculous. Among other things, Marlena should know about any pregnancies and labor she went through.
But this is Salem, and we’re talking about the DiMeras, so anything is possible. After all, Rolf found a way for Kristen to steal Theresa’s baby from her womb and implant it in her own.
Still, this seems like a pointless reveal since Stefano is no longer with us, and on top of that, so far Dominick Marino seems hellbent on being Stefano 2.0, which is not what Marlena needs in a pop-up son.
