There are plenty of cats in gaming, but not all of them are required to save a land swallowed by darkness. Shadow Cat puts players in control of a cat boy armed with movement skills and fireballs, sending them through 25 handcrafted levels filled with creatures, traps and dangerous environments.
The journey takes place across dark forests, abandoned factories, caves and forgotten tunnels. While the controls are designed to be straightforward, the platforming becomes more demanding as new hazards and enemies are introduced.
Fireballs, Checkpoints And A Giant Spider
Players can run, jump and dash across deadly gaps, avoid moving obstacles and launch fireballs at enemies. Life points and ammunition can be collected throughout each level, while checkpoints provide a useful safety net when things go wrong.
That safety net isn’t unlimited, though. Taking damage costs a life, and losing all available lives means restarting the level from the beginning. The final confrontation against a giant spider and its minions promises a suitably unpleasant conclusion to the adventure.
Shadow Cat is designed as a compact experience of roughly two hours, complete with atmospheric environments, achievements and 4K Ultra HD support on compatible Xbox Series X|S setups.

If Shadow Cat sounds a little too stressful, Sugar Box offers a considerably sweeter alternative. This cosy shape-packing puzzle game challenges players to fit clusters of square sweets into decorative boxes, using every available space to complete customer orders.
The concept is simple enough, but the solutions become increasingly demanding across five difficulty bundles: Beginner, Easy, Medium, Hard and Impossible. Each contains 50 handcrafted levels, providing 250 puzzles to work through.
250 Boxes And Plenty Of Brainwork
Sugar Box is built around careful placement and spatial reasoning. Players need to examine each arrangement, understand how the pieces fit and avoid wasting valuable space. If a puzzle proves particularly troublesome, the hint system provides assistance, although each hint comes with a 60-second wait before another can be used. Don’t think you’ll be spamming it…
The warm bakery setting, colourful sweets and straightforward controls make it suitable for short sessions or longer puzzle-playing stretches. Completing all 250 levels, however, could require considerably more patience once the Impossible bundle comes into play.
