The game director on Final Fantasy VII Revelation has revealed during an interview with VGC that the game will probably weigh in at around 200GB.
When asked about the download size and whether it will be larger than the two Blu-ray discs that made up the previous two entries, Naoki Hamaguchi replied: “In a word, yes. Things are still getting worked out, but it’s probably going to be around 200GB of game. I understand there are a lot of opinions about this topic, but at the end of the day, the fact is we need to overcome the hardware to a certain extent.”
As previously reported, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will receive a physical release on a single Blu-ray disc, but will require a data download in order to play. Hamaguchi-san stated that this was necessary in order not to compromise the game’s overall quality. In terms of post-launch content, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is going to receive two story-based DLCs that will focus on Sephiroth and Vincent & the Turks, although the main narrative is going to be concluded in the base game.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled to launch for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on April 8, 2026.
