Another Tuesday, another week of PlayStation chaos to sort through. Marvel’s Wolverine simply refuses to stop being a story, a typhoon washed out part of Tokyo Game Show, and Sony’s Physint situation got even messier. So grab a coffee, because here is your Tuesday Recap.
Wolverine Just Won’t Stop Making Headlines
Marvel’s Wolverine launched to mixed reviews, and the discourse has been exactly as pleasant as you would expect. Insomniac has already started smoothing things over, though, and a recent update tones down the infamous “scent trails” that absolutely nobody asked for. You can read about that right here.
We also took a step back and asked the bigger question: is Wolverine really that bad, or did review culture and some poorly timed Sony decisions light the thing on fire before it even left the gate? Our feature digs into exactly that. Spoiler alert: it’s complicated.
A Typhoon Ruined Tokyo Game Show
Day five of Tokyo Game Show 2026 was called off entirely due to a typhoon hitting Japan. Not a delayed stream, not a smaller booth. The whole day, gone. I genuinely hate typhoon season, I swear. You can get the details here.
Sony Drama Corner
A new report shed light on why Sony reportedly tried to cancel Hideo Kojima’s Physint, and it boils down to poor Death Stranding sales, missed deadlines, and budget concerns. Meanwhile, Shuhei Yoshida admitted he was surprised by the whole thing. You can read the report here, and Yoshida’s comments here.
On a sadder note, longtime PlayStation system architect Mark Cerny says he is nearing the end of his career. The man designed or co-designed roughly half the hardware you have ever plugged into a TV. More on that here.
The Rapid Fire Round
- Mads Mikkelsen is officially the antagonist of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which is honestly perfect casting. Details here.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation will eat up a whopping 200GB on PS5. Clear some space off that SSD now, thank me later. Here.
- PlayStation announced two new Pulse headsets. Details here.
- The PSBlackout protest wrapped up with “no significant change” to PlayStation’s player count or engagement. Make of that what you will. Here.
- Rayman Legends Retold slipped to December 3rd, which in this packed fall season might honestly be a blessing. Here.
- Until Dawn 2 pre-orders went live with a lower than expected price tag, and cheaper horror is always good horror. Here.
- And yes, Forza Horizon 6 is still coming to PS5 this year. Xbox keeps its promises, apparently. Here.
